Instructions for Managing links with the Village Diary
Firstly, if you only have a small number of events to be published then you are
invited to send them to the
who will add them by hand to the diary.
Please make sure you provide details of the event itself, the start time and end
time and the location. If however you have many events and the programme is
subject to change at short notice then you can create a calendar of your own and
have it link to the Village Diary automatically. This is how to do it:
- Sign on or Create an account with Google (it's free) :
https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount
- Once signed on to Google, follow the link to the Calendar (you may find it
under the 'more' menu)
- Follow the instructions on screen to create your calendar, making sure that
the time zone is set to (GMT+00:00) London
- Locate the option to 'Share this calendar'.
- tick the box next to 'Make this calendar public'
- in the section 'Share with
specific people' enter the address 'info(at)hanslope.org.uk' - replacing the '(at)'
with an @ sign - making sure the 'permission settings' shows 'see all event
settings' (it's the default setting) - and hit the 'Add Person' button
- The display will look a bit like this when you've finished:

- Don't forget to hit the 'Save' button!
- Now send the
an email to confirm that this has been done and they will make sure that your
calendar is added to the Village Diary
- Once this has been done you can add new events or modify existing ones and
they will appear on the village diary automatically
- When you are adding events to your calendar please remember the following:
- please make sure that each and every event you create starts with the
name of your organisation so people will know what the event relates to
- please make sure you set up the events with a specific start and end time
as the default is an 'all day' event
- please make sure you state the location and any other details
you want to show
- After adding an event you might want to check the Village Diary to make sure
that your event appears and all the appropriate information is visible
- If you have any problems just email the
